Dr. Burk completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 2004. Following completion of his 3-year surgical residency in South Bend Indiana- working with the team physicians for the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Burk returned home to Idaho. He is double board certified in both Foot Surgery as well as Ankle and Reconstructive Rear-foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. “I was drawn towards foot and ankle as a specialty because of its diversity. I enjoy the variety it provides in challenging me on a daily basis. I see a wide range of medical issues from sports medicine injuries to treating deformities- pediatrics to geriatrics- dermatology to radiology. Foot and ankle issues cover such a broad spectrum that it challenges you every day to be your best.” Dr. Burk is passionate about providing the very best care to his patients from the moment they enter our offices.
Dr. Burk considers one of his greatest responsibilities to his patients to be a teacher. “So often in today’s health care, patients are given a treatment plan but not an explanation of what their diagnosis is or what it means to them in the long run. I think physicians owe their patients the time and communication to help them understand their problem and arrive at a treatment plan that they can follow through with.” Dr. Burk pays special attention to making certain that his patients understand their diagnosis and their treatment plan to create the best environment for them to get better.
An avid skier and mountain climber, Dr. Burk enjoys time with his family and friends playing in the great outdoors. He frequently is found taking his boys on large climbs throughout Idaho and has a goal of summiting all of the US 50 high points (the tallest peak in each state). He is also passionate about youth sports and when he is not working, he loves coaching his two competitive boys soccer teams for the club soccer organization he founded- The Idaho Storm. Dr. Burk expects that the day will come when he has to slow down…and when it does- he’ll get more serious about golf.
